ORTOGRAPHYC DICTIONARY OF GREEK AND ROMAN PROPER NAMES


Was edited by the Chief Editorial Board of Georgian Soviet Encyclopedia in 1985, was prepared by Institute of Linguistics of Georgian National Academy of Sciences. The rules of translating in Georgian according to the standards of Georgian literary language were worked out. The publication is intended for the press and media workers, publishers and other interested in readers.
The main aim of the dictionary is to show the correct spelling of Greek and Roman proper names. The descriptions of the names are given briefly.
Editorial council: I. Abashidze, (chairman), I. Gigineishvili, I. Vardosanidze, K. Lomtatidze (deputy chairman), R. Metreveli (deputy chairman), Ts. Tsertsvadze, M. Chabashvili.
The dictionary was made up by K. Gigineishvili, was edited by I. Gigineishvili, A. Urushadze and M. Chabashvili. The editor of literary control N. Tsintsadze took part in preparing the material.
